How to make Vegan Yogurt Recipe
How to make
Thickeners- to make something that is thick enough to sit tight on a spoon, choose a thickener that meets your dietary needs.
Choose a culture that is dairy friendly
Choose a sweetener- this promotes fermentation as bacteria needs something to feed on to allow the culturing process to take place. You can opt for, raw sugar, honey or maple syrup.
Choose standard recipes or make one of your own with combination of non-dairy milk, cultures and thickeners.
Note: Some alternative milks have added calcium. If using Pomona’s Pectin as a thickener, it may be necessary to eliminate the calcium water, to avoid over-thick yogurt.
Because some alternative milks have less sugar than dairy milk, it can help to add sugar to promote fermentation. Approximately 1½-2 teaspoons sugar per cup of milk is recommended. Rice milk doesn’t need additional sugar.(Culturesforhealth.com)
