How does Drinking Water Help You Lose Weight?

How can water help you lose weight? How effective is drinking water weight loss? Can drinking water aid in controlling calories? How? It is simple. First, unless it is of a special kind, may be from planet Mars, normal water has no calories. When you choose to drink water or pursue a diet higher in water rich foods, you are likely to experience more filling. I mean your stomach will get full, probably faster. Have you ever tried to drink a glass of water or munch a large piece of watermelon just before a serious meal? If yes, am sure you are getting the idea. If not, please give it a try. Water will definitely fill you up and make you feel like you need less for your gut. High water-rich food tends to look larger; its higher volume requires you to chew more. In addition your body will absorb this sort of food more slowly. The beauty of all this is that that craving for unnecessary snacking, probably high caloric food will be kept at bay.

In the study, adults were divided into two separate weight-loss groups. Both groups followed a strict low-calorie diet throughout the 12-week study, but only one group drank two glasses of water before each meal every day. The water-drinking group lost an average of 15.5 pounds, versus the control group that only lost 11 pounds over the course of the study. Throughout the 12-week period, researchers observed that simply getting a little water before meals helps you lose nearly as much as 5 additional pounds.
Another point to note is that water is never stored as fat – as is the case with unused food. Excess water peacefully passes out of the body with no weight gain. Does this really need scientific evidence?
So, you certainly need to incorporate water intake in your weight loss plan. The trick is just to substitute water and water-rich food for caloric beverages and food with high calories respectively. Drink more water but be careful not consume more than your body requires. See this article; Drinking Too Much Water – Can You Die? Side Effects & Symptoms

A 2003 Germany study reported that after drinking 17 ounces of water, the subjects’ metabolic rates went high by 30%, commencing at 10 minutes after drinking water, and peaking at 30 to 40 minutes. However, Daniel Moser, an exercise physiologist, said that the effect of this on weight loss would be “extremely modest”. In his opinion, further studies were required to substantiate the effect.
A study, 3 years later, by a different research center failed to back up the idea that drinking water considerably increases metabolism. According to the study, consuming room temperature water did not cause any changes on the metabolic rate, and taking near-freezing water (3°C) increased metabolism by only 4.5%, much less than the 30% the previous study had found.
