Yellow Vomit Meaning and Causes Pregnancy & Morning
The characteristic color of the vomit could be an indicator of an underlying medical condition in your body. The presence of a yellow vomit in almost all the cases has something to do with the bile juice produced in the liver. This is meant to help in the breakdown of fat in the body. The bile is stored in the gall bladder and only comes in when needed upon a fatty meal.
Therefore, there should be no time that the juice should be found in the stomach except after a fatty meal. In the unlikely event that it is found in the stomach, then it would be because the pyloric sphincter opens and allows it into the stomach. In this case, there is production of a yellow liquid when vomited.
Yellow Vomit/Bile-What does it mean when you throw up yellow stuff
In order to understand the various causes of yellow vomit production. This article will try address some of the causes and thereafter management of yellow vomit program.

An empty stomach
When your stomach is devoid of any food, it means that when you throw up, there is nothing that comes out. As a result, you end up throwing up bile instead. This should however not worry you because it goes away on its own. It can also be reduced by natural remedies and thus not such a reason for worry.
Blockage of the intestines
When your intestines block, this implies that the food does not find its way to the intestines for absorption. You will then more likely vomit yellow vomit. You therefore have at this point make a visit to the doctor so as to get the unblocking of the intestines.
Bile reflux
This is a very disabling condition. It comes with other symptoms like abdominal pain, loss of weight and bilious vomiting. This in most cases happens because the gall bladder malfunctions and leaks the contents into the stomach which then finds way into the esophagus. This ends up giving you a burning sensation as the juice travels up. This is according to the Mayo Clinic.[1]
Respiratory inflammation
This sounds like an impossibility, but there is a connection. In this case, the infection contributes to the production of a lot of mucus. The mucus has bacteria and other microbes that are able to travel to the stomach and pollute it. The microorganisms will continue irritating the contents in the stomach and then induce a feeling of vomiting.
The malfunctioning of the pyloric valve
The malfunction of the pyloric valve could lead throwing up of a lot of bile. This condition is commonest in the elderly as compared to children. After a fatty meal, the bile is released from the gall bladder to the intestines to facilitate fats breakdown. Pyloric sphincter opens to the stomach from the intestines. Bile gets to enter the stomach if this valve malfunctions, which could lead to other conditions like heartburn and throwing up of yellow bile.
Excessive consumption of alcohol and medication
The reason why alcohol is a victim is because when you take more than enough, it could lead to irritation of the stomach lining. There are some other drugs that are known to contribute to this and they include morphine and digitalis. The drugs are known to affect the operation of the brain and cause vomiting.
There are some medications for instance morphine which are triggers of vomiting in your stomach. They go ahead to trigger the chemoreceptors of the stomach and thus inducing vomiting. They should hence be limited in use or stopped all the same.[2]

This is especially when you experience weight loss in the course of time. More to yellow vomit, blood appearing in the vomit also implies a serious medical condition.[4]
Throwing up yellow liquid after drinking
Yellow vomiting is a common occurrence especially in the morning after an evening of drinking. This happens because the body is in a struggle to eliminate alcohol from your body. The reason is because alcohol irritates the lining of your stomach. In the event of the irritation, then you are likely to vomit bile and thus yellow vomit.
Further, the yellow vomit could be a result of intolerance to alcohol. Because of the intolerance, your body attempts to remove the toxic substances and bile in your body. The vomiting in the morning is more serious compared to the vomiting at night. This leads to bile hangover. It is a good practice to immediately drink water after vomiting bile so as to avoid any dehydration.
Throwing up after drinking is at times associated with other conditions that may be severe. They include seizures, blue or pale skin, slow and or irregular breathing, lowered body temperature, inability to arise after passing out or alcohol poisoning. In this regard, it is wise to seek medical attention as soon as possible.[5]
Other Causes of Puking Bile
There are several other causes of yellow vomit. Cyclic vomiting is one them. When you vomit for a long period of time, solid food cannot be tolerated in the stomach. This thus forces your stomach to expel food with bile. The cyclic vomiting is not easily treated at home and in many cases, you have to be hospitalized so as to manage the condition.
Allergic foods could also cause you yellow vomit. The foods trigger vomiting immediately and in the course of time, bile will come along. Apart from that, peptic ulcers could bring you yellow vomit.
Gall bladder surgery is also another suspect. If you had a surgery of the gall bladder that involved its removal, you are likely to vomit bile. The gastric finds its way to the stomach and this causes gastritis and an irritation of the lining of the stomach. This will force bile to come out through the esophagus.
